At our Monroe and Freehold, NJ offices, we help patients discover real alternatives to knee replacement. Our multidisciplinary approach centers on restoring function, easing pain, and improving your quality of life, all without invasive surgery. Through personalized care and advanced non-surgical treatments, we work to help you regain mobility and live free of chronic knee discomfort.

Knee pain affects millions of people and can seriously disrupt daily life and overall well-being. It might show up as a dull ache, a sharp stabbing sensation, or a persistent throb, often paired with stiffness, swelling, and a reduced range of motion. For many patients, it eventually reaches a point where simple things like walking, climbing stairs, or even standing become genuinely difficult.
Chronic knee pain can be genuinely debilitating, getting in the way of hobbies, work, and even basic self-care. That constant discomfort tends to bring frustration, less physical activity, and a real dip in quality of life. Our goal is to lift that burden and help you return to the activities you love with renewed comfort and energy.
Knee pain can come from a number of different sources. Acute injuries like sprains, strains, or ligament tears usually follow sudden trauma or sports activity, while overuse injuries such as patellofemoral pain syndrome or tendonitis build up gradually from repetitive stress. Many patients, though, deal with chronic knee pain from degenerative conditions that worsen over time, which is exactly where non-surgical alternatives become worth considering.
Persistent knee pain is often traced back to some form of arthritis or a mechanical issue within the joint itself. Over time, these conditions wear down the knee’s intricate structures, bringing inflammation, stiffness, and pain along with them. We specialize in diagnosing and treating these complex issues, with a focus on non-invasive and regenerative solutions that target the problem at its source.

Physical therapy and chiropractic care form the foundation of our non-surgical approach to knee pain. These medically supervised treatments are designed to improve mobility, strengthen supporting structures, and correct the biomechanical imbalances behind your knee discomfort. Our therapists and chiropractors work together to help you find lasting relief and avoid future injury.

The anti-gravity treadmill offers a genuinely different approach to knee rehabilitation and pain management. This technology lets patients with knee pain or injuries exercise and rehabilitate in a reduced-gravity environment, making movement possible and pain-free in situations where it might otherwise be difficult or out of reach. It’s a valuable tool in our broader suite of knee replacement alternatives.

A major focus of the recovery phase, especially within physical therapy and chiropractic care, is building strength and function in your knee that actually lasts. That typically includes:

One of the biggest advantages of non-surgical treatment is a much shorter recovery period. Total knee replacement often means weeks or months of intensive rehab and serious limitations on daily life, while alternative therapies typically get you back to your routine far more quickly, often letting you keep up light activity throughout treatment with minimal disruption.
Knee replacement means removing damaged bone and cartilage and swapping in artificial components. Our alternative treatments take the opposite approach, focusing on preserving your natural knee joint by stimulating healing, reducing inflammation, and improving joint mechanics to restore the health of your own tissue, which can feel more natural and offer better proprioception (body awareness) than an artificial joint.
Like any major surgery, total knee replacement carries real risks, including infection, blood clots, nerve damage, and implant-related issues. Non-surgical alternatives carry fewer risks simply because they’re far less invasive. No medical procedure is entirely risk-free, but the odds of a serious complication are substantially lower across our range of alternative therapies.
Post-operative pain after knee replacement can be significant, often calling for strong prescription pain medication. Our alternative treatments aim to reduce pain through natural healing and targeted interventions instead, which often means relying less on pharmaceuticals, a real benefit for anyone looking for drug-free pain management.
At the end of the day, avoiding total knee replacement through effective alternatives is about improving your overall quality of life. By easing pain, restoring mobility, and helping you get back to the activities you love, our treatments help you reclaim your independence and well-being without the physical and emotional toll that comes with major surgery.
Knee replacement alternatives are a range of non-surgical and minimally invasive treatments designed to alleviate knee pain, restore function, and improve mobility without undergoing total knee replacement surgery. These options focus on healing the body naturally, reducing inflammation, and strengthening the joints.
Ideal candidates are typically individuals with mild to moderate osteoarthritis, chronic tendon or ligament injuries, meniscus tears that don’t require surgical repair, or those who wish to avoid surgery due to personal preference or health concerns. A comprehensive consultation at Advanced Wellness can determine if these treatments are right for you.
Most of our alternative treatments are well-tolerated. Procedures such as regenerative injections may involve mild discomfort, but local anesthetics are used to ensure comfort. Non-invasive therapies like shockwave therapy are generally comfortable, and physical therapy sessions are managed according to your pain threshold.
The timeline for results varies based on the individual, the condition being treated, and the specific therapies used. Some patients experience relief relatively quickly, while others may see gradual improvements over several weeks or months as the body heals and strengthens. Consistency with your treatment plan is key to achieving optimal outcomes.
Insurance coverage for knee replacement alternatives can vary significantly. Advanced Wellness participates with many different insurance plans and offers a complimentary benefits check to help you understand your coverage. While some treatments may be covered, others, particularly certain regenerative therapies, might not be fully covered. We will discuss all financial aspects transparently during your consultation.
