What is
Shockwave Therapy?

Shockwave therapy is an innovative treatment designed to jumpstart the body’s self-repair mechanisms following an injury. Normally, your body responds to injuries by initiating a healing process to mend tissues, bones, and cells. However, in cases of chronic pain, this natural response may become dormant, leaving the affected area without relief and in continuous discomfort.

Understanding
Shockwave Therapy

Advanced Wellness utilizes advanced shockwave therapy to deeply reach the soft tissues of the affected area. The therapy induces a minor, controlled re-injury or microtrauma, reigniting the body’s innate healing response. The therapy’s energy prompts the release of specific biochemicals in the cells, enhancing the healing process and fostering the development of new microvasculature within the tissue.

This therapy employs potent energy pulses, delivered in short bursts, to stimulate the body’s cells responsible for repairing bones and connective tissues. Shockwave therapy has shown to be particularly effective in cases where traditional healing has stalled, providing a new avenue for recovery.

The Procedure Explained

During the treatment, a practitioner will apply a special ultrasound gel to the targeted area, followed by the careful application of the shockwave device. This device emits ballistic waves, or compressed air impulses, across the injured site in a gentle, circular pattern.

While some patients may feel a slight discomfort during the session, efforts are made to tailor the treatment to minimize any unease. Post-treatment, it’s common to experience a sensation akin to that after an intense workout, lasting a day or two.
