What is Regenerative Medicine?

Regenerative medicine is a medical treatment that uses the regenerative properties of your blood or stem cells to regrow, repair or replace damaged or diseased cells, organs or tissues.

What is PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma)?

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy uses a patient’s own blood plasma, that has high levels of platelets, thus the term Platelet Rich Plasma. Platelets contain high level of growth factors that are instrumental in the healing process. These are the same substances that will heal a cut or wound. The injection of a concentration of a patient’s own platelets into injured tendons, ligaments, muscles and joints can accelerate the healing of these tissues. In essence this treatment is harnessing the powerful recuperative and regenerative potential of the body’s natural ability to heal. This treatment has virtually zero side affects and is used by some of the world’s greatest professional athletes including Tiger Woods and Rafael Nadal to name a few.

What to expect with a PRP injection:

  • Your blood will be drawn by a healthcare professional.
  • Your blood is placed into a special centrifuge. This is a machine that spins around very quickly, which helps separate the plasma from other components of the blood. This process takes 15-30 minutes.
  • The separated plasma is injected into the damage or  injured area.
  • Some doctors may use ultrasound to locate an area to inject but this is often not necessary.

Are Regenerative Medicine treatments covered by insurance?

  • These treatments are not currently covered by insurance.
  • Costs can range from $800 for PRP to a few thousand for Stem Cells.
  • We offer a free consultation to determine if you are a candidate.
