Regenerative medicine is an innovative field of healthcare that focuses on repairing, replacing, or regenerating damaged tissues. This new approach utilizes the body’s natural healing mechanisms, often enhanced by stem cells, growth factors, and specialized biological materials to restore normal function.
Advanced Wellness provides regenerative treatments through injections, depending on the specific condition being treated. We offer two main techniques — platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections and stem cell therapy — to stimulate the body’s repair processes. Our regenerative procedures are relatively quick, typically lasting between 30 minutes and two hours, though this can vary depending on the specific treatment and target area.
PRP therapy uses a patient’s blood plasma with high platelet levels. These platelets contain growth factors that are instrumental in the recovery process. They are the same... substances that will heal a cut or wound. The injection of concentrated platelets into injured tendons, ligaments, muscles, and joints can accelerate the recovery of these tissues. PRP therapy harnesses the body’s natural ability to heal. It has virtually zero side effects and is used by some of the world’s greatest professional athletes, including Tiger Woods and Rafael Nadal, to name a few.
Read moreStem cell therapy is a regenerative treatment that uses specialized cells to repair and restore damaged tissues. During the procedure, stem cells are harvested... from the patient's body (typically from bone marrow or fat tissue) or donated sources. These cells are then processed and concentrated before being injected into the targeted treatment area, where they can develop into different types of cells needed for healing. The therapy is commonly used to address various orthopedic conditions, joint problems, and soft tissue injuries. At Advanced Wellness, stem cell treatments are performed as outpatient procedures under local anesthesia, with the entire process usually taking a few hours to complete.
Read moreThe first 24-48 hours after regenerative injections typically involve mild discomfort and swelling at the injection site. Patients generally experience some soreness, similar to the feeling after an intense workout. During this time, rest is essential, and the treated area should be protected from excessive movement or strain.
Most patients can manage any post-procedure discomfort with over-the-counter pain medications, though certain anti-inflammatory drugs may be restricted as they might interfere with the healing process. Ice therapy is helpful during the first day or two to reduce swelling and discomfort.
A gradual return to normal activities usually begins within 3-7 days after the procedure. To ensure a smooth transition, patients can undergo physical therapy. Light activities can typically be resumed within the first week, while more strenuous movement may need to be postponed for several weeks, depending on the treatment area and our recommendations.
The full benefits of regenerative injections typically develop over several weeks to months as the body’s natural healing processes take effect and alleviate pain. Most patients can expect to see initial improvements within 2-6 weeks, with continued enhancement over the following months. Follow-up appointments are scheduled to monitor progress and adjust treatment plans as needed to achieve complete pain relief.
